Winterizing

So summer is over and the race to get prepared for winter is on. Earlier this year Derek brought over a load of random stuff that was in his dads friends house, lots of cool tools, odds and ends, and best of all (right now anyways) a whole bunch of insulation. The last few days have consisted of insulating the loft in my cabin, putting up plastic vapor barrier, and trekking to a construction site's burn pile to find pieces of plywood maybe big enough to be worth siding my loft with. its a pretty patchwork job, but like all else in my cabin, it's free and it works.

In other news, we've had two friends staying with us from montreal for the last few weeks. they have a possible apartment to go back to, but I am hoping they stay forever. Having new faces and ideas has been really inspiring around the property, both because  they encourage us to keep our momentum, and they remind us how far we have come. (they saw the property last spring, before much of the real work had been done)

Next on the small project lists is building a woodshed to store all the firewood we chopped down in spring. Still on the big project list, building my extension; which is if want to happen before winter, I am going to have to get a job and actually pay for some of the wood.... maybe...
